Senior Sybase Database Administrator - Multiple Openings
As a database administrator, you will work in a team environment to provide knowledge
of relational databases, i.e., Sybase ASE and logical/physical design support including
backup/recovery. You will be responsible for upgrades, performance monitoring, installations,
managing replications, diagnosing system problems, disaster recovery testing and
maintaining user accessibility. In addition, you will act as a technical resource
for IT applications in specific business group. This position will also require
participation in a 7 x 24 production on call support rotation.

General Responsibilites:
Recommend database and system management tools as required.
Proactively investigate/troubleshoot database, technical and systems problems and
direct/assure corrective action.
Work with application teams to recommend process or system enhancements.
Provide general technical support to Services and Development groups.
24 X 7 duty required for on-call rotation.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of database architecture, administration and support on large Sybase
environment.
Minimum 3 years of design and implement high availability and disaster recovery
systems.
Strong understanding of database concepts, architecture, processes and principles.
Minimum 5 years gathering and documenting business requirements.
Good written, oral communication skills and ability to work in a Team environment.
Strong Customer service oriented and interpersonal skills.
Advanced knowledge of physical database design, capacity planning, security planning,
backup and recovery systems, operating systems, data modeling, query language, multiple
database engines, performance and testing, and software development concepts and
technology.
Additional Qualifications:
Should have experience with Sybase ASE, Replication and IQ Server products Experience
in logical and physical database design Design, model, configure, test, and install
databases Minimum of 5 years of current experience with SQL server/ Sybase as production
DBA. Experience in performance monitoring and tuning Strong experience in developing
and maintaining relational databases including backup/recovery procedures is required
Strong experience in Data synchronization/ replication. Strong experience in production
trouble shooting. Experience with performance Tuning. Prior experience with 7 X
24 support. Prior experience in supporting large SQL Server environments. Experience
with SQL server clustering (Active/Active) and (Active/Passive).
Desired Skills:
Experience coding/integrating with telephony such as CTI and IVR
Sybase Database knowledge
Experience in programming in C
Experience with PowerBuilder development
Java experience
UNIX shell scripting experience
Experience with socket-level programming
